Make Up For Ever Launches a Scholarship Fund for LGBTQIA+ Aspiring Makeup Artists

Nicole Kirichanskaya November 29, 2022

Make Up For Ever is looking to cover the costs associated with attending beauty school for five aspiring LGBTQIA+ makeup artists through the launch of a new scholarship fund. The fund will provide anywhere between $5,000 and $10,000 to attend any beauty school of choice, as well as a starter kit of Make Up For Ever products. The program was created in partnership with the Hetrick-Martin Institute, an organization that looks to provide community, basic needs, health, education, and career services to thousands of LGBTQIA+ youth per year.

Nicola Lawton, Senior Manager of Communications for Make Up For Ever, stated, “In addition to diversity and inclusivity, Make Up For Ever has always included education & artistry as core brand pillars. That’s why we decided to launch the Make Up For Ever LGBTQIA+ Scholarship Fund for Education & Artistry in partnership with the Hetrick Martin Institute – a fund dedicated to providing makeup artistry education opportunities to aspiring makeup artists who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.”

The program is open to legal residents of the United States who are 18 years old or older, and who identify as LGBTQIA+. Individuals who enter cannot have had a 2021 household income exceeding $50,000. Applications are being accepted until 11:59 EST on September 20, 2022.

To apply contenders must follow direction on the brand’s site, including producing a 60 second to 90 second video expressing what makeup artistry means to them, how makeup has served as a tool to discover their LGBTQIA+ identity, and why they would like to receive the scholarship. Scholarship winners will be announced in October 2022.

The beauty brand has partnered with the Hetrick-Martin Institute in raising charitable donations during Pride Month in previous years and has launched campaigns highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community.
