The Beauty Trends of 2021 ~ Straight From Versace Fall Winter 21

Nicole Kirichanskaya December 10, 2022

2021 may not be going as smoothly as we had hoped it would; however, that doesn’t mean we don’t have things to look forward to! Besides growing herd immunity steadily increasing across America as people start to get the vaccine, we also have some really cool beauty trends to try out while out and about in masks or on zoom calls. Here are some of the hottest beauty trends for 2021:

Neon Colors

With your facial space being limited to public view these days, you want to make the parts of your face that people do see really stand out. One great way of doing this is with neon colors. Now is a great time to try out those bold eyeshadow or eyeliner, or if you’re really feeling experimental both, that you’ve always been too timid to play with before.

Glowy Skin

With everyone being concerned about maskne (mask acne), the skincare industry has been blowing up like crazy while other beauty category sales have been going down. K-Beauty brands like Peach & Lily and Soko Glam have maintained their threshold in the market, while many people have been especially invested in trying out and supporting Black-owned skincare brands.

Glowy skin doesn’t just refer to “natural” looking foundation or concealor application. It also refers to using products to help you attain a soft-looking flush to the skin, such as using liquid or cream highlighters and blushes as opposed to powders.

Liner, Liner, Liner

It cannot be emphasized enough that playing up the eyes with makeup is still a major trend carried over from 2020. However, it’s not just the color of the liner that’s playing a factor. Liner styles such as mis-matched eyeliner (a different color on each lid), bold cat-eyes and the punk, ultra-smudgy black liner has been making a major comeback as of late.

BIPOC-founded fragrance brands are on the rise

In comparison to fragrance consumers of previous generations, like baby boomers, millennial and Gen-Z shoppers have increasingly embraced non-heritage fragrance brands, especially those that are BIPOC-founded.
