For those who want to maintain a certain sexiness with their wardrobe without interfering with their preference for modesty, there is an easy solution out there and it’s called nude fashion.

Dating is arguably one of the hardest things we can do in our society today. Between dating apps and ghosting and constantly shifting rules of dating etiquette, the idea of finding your perfect person is daunting. However, one of the reasons dating may be harder than it should be is our conscious or unconscious biases we have in our dating preferences, specifically in regards to race. 

“New York City is a melting pot.”

This is one of the iconic lines used to describe New York; specifically in reference to the vast number of racial and cultural groups that make up this city. The analogy is used to describe how different types of backgrounds all blend together in this city; however, an ongoing health scare is proving this not to be the case.

If ever there was a time to bust out your Netflix or Hulu account, now would be it. There’s nothing quite as distracting, or entertaining, as a good K-Drama. K-Drama is a term for a television series, typically lasting one season, originating from South Korea. With the spread of the hallyu, a term used for the worldwide popularity of South Korean entertainment and culture like K-Pop or K-Beauty, K-Dramas also gained popularity outside of South Korea. These series are known for following a lot of archetypes American television series are known for and then some. Some popular storylines in K-Dramas fall along the lines of ‘Rich Boy Falls in Love With Poor, But Pretty Girl’, or ‘Older Woman Falls in Love With Younger Man’, and so on. 

To begin, K-Pop, the term, is an abbreviation for Korean pop music, and typically South Korean pop music at that. However, to simply say that K-pop is a Korean version of pop music is a rather limiting and inaccurate definition of the music trend that’s making its mark all across the world; America, Canada, and India to name a few.

If there is any word that Pre-Millennial generations would be baffled by, it is the term “situationship”. Urban dictionary defines the term “situationship” as “A relationship that has no label on it. Like a friendship but more than a friendship but not quite a relationship.” 

Dating right now is very, for lack of a better word, weird.  Our ways of going about meeting new people and flirting will be on pause, but not for long. For many people, women especially, this changes this way we go about getting ready for dates. Many people are going on “virtual” dates via applications like Zoom. 

Of all the things being affected by the coronavirus, our love lives are facing some of the biggest changes. Obviously there are more pressing yet, the thought of how this pandemic will change the state of human interaction, during and post-crisis, is concerning. It’s a natural human response to seek physical affection and emotional support in times of crisis, so the fact that we are so restricted in our social interaction these days presents a bit of a challenge. In no way does this mean I am advocating for going against your state or country’s rules for quarantine.

Y2K fashion is continuing to play a strong game with the likes of fashion houses Dior, Prada, and Gucci re-vamping Y2K style. You can get out that fanny pack, er, we mean belt bag. Fashion is many things; innovative, ever-changing, occasionally confusing and very much cyclical. As much as fashion continues to push the envelope with new fabric innovations or the creation of different silhouettes, we often see images of the past returning to find itself back into the fashion of today. A major example of this would be with the corset, an item that has a history that dates back thousands of years but keeps remerging in the world of fashion. 

This isn’t the first, or anywhere near the last, time I will write about sexual racism. What separates this article from others is the more recent series of events that show the horrifying and fatal effect this phenomenon has.
